What is Crazy Horse Leather?
Crazy horse leather crops up in leather goods searches but what is it? Is it horse leather? Are the leathers of mad horses used?
Sadly it is more straight forward explanation than that.
Crazy horse leathers are made by a certain process. A wax is applied to a full grain leather surface that has been buffed and smoothed out. The wax rests on the leather fibres allowing the leather surface to change if rubbed without the colours immediately reversing back. This process of rubbing and altering the colour shades is what causes the antique appearance and is exactly what the craze for this leather is all about.
So Crazy Horse leather will add character to your chosen piece. As the leather ages it looks even more exceptional than before. When scraped, it will change its colour and will give it a worn out appearance. This allows you to make your favourite brand new item look rugged, rare and matured.
Due to the name, Crazy Horse Leather is sometimes known also as saddle leather.
